Benue State has embarked on a transformative journey to enhance its digital infrastructure through a new strategic partnership with Galaxy Backbone Ltd. On Thursday, 8th August, 2024, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia led a team of professionals to Galaxy Backbone’s state-of-the-art facilities in Abuja, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s digital advancement.

The Governor’s tour of the Network Operations Centre, Tier III Data Centre, Power Room, and Security Operations Centre underscores the state’s commitment to modernizing its technological framework. The visit comes as part of Benue State’s broader initiative to implement the National Digital Economy Plan Strategy 2020 to 2030.

Central to this initiative is the creation of two key agencies: the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC) and the Benue State Digital Infrastructure Services Management Enforcement Agency (BENDISMEA). These agencies are tasked with overseeing the digital transformation of state government operations and ensuring the effective deployment of technology solutions.

In his address, Governor Alia highlighted the importance of the collaboration with Galaxy Backbone Ltd., emphasizing that it represents a significant advancement in Benue State’s ICT capabilities. He noted that the state’s partnership with Galaxy Backbone Ltd. would be crucial in achieving high standards in technology, security, and operational efficiency.

“This partnership marks a major leap forward for Benue State,” Governor Alia said. “It is not just about adopting new technologies; it is about creating a digital environment that enhances governance, supports local businesses, and improves the overall quality of life for our people.”

The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Acting Chairman of APC in Benue State, Hon. Benjamin Omakolo, the Attorney General and Commissioner for justice and Public Order, Hon. Barr. Fidelis Mnyim, Honourable Commissioner of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Kwaghgba Amande, Hon Commissioner of Works, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Imojime Tiza, Private Secretary/Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to the Governor on ICT & New Media, Comrade Angula Bishop Reuben, Managing Director/CEO Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC), Mr. Gbande Hembaor Terwase, PSA to the Governor on Digital Economy & Job Creation, Hon. Attah Mark Ochoga, PSA to the Governor on House of Assembly Matters, Hon. Maurice Orwough, and PSA to the Governor on Protocol & Wardrobe

This development positions Benue State as a frontrunner in digital innovation within Northern Nigeria, aligning with national goals for technological advancement and economic growth.
